Anti-Cheat: The program that keeps them honest.

 

The most common form of cheating consists of students' eyes that wander where they shouldn't during tests (and quizzes). The standard way of combating this is to create more than one version, so that a curious student will find that his neighbor does not have the same page. However, the manual preparation of multiple versions is very time consuming and error-prone.

This easy-to-use program takes the test or quiz that you have prepared with the aid of a word processor, and it scrambles the questions, creating as many versions as you specify.    

  •          If your questions are multiple-choice, AC will scramble the order of the choices within each question.  
  •          If you are using an answer key, AC will also create a matching key for each version of the test. A secret code allows you to match each version of the test with its own answer key.   
  •          AC works with texts in Hebrew or English. It is compatible with Word and all major word processors.

   This program works equally well on newly composed tests or on old tests from your archive.

The Keyword Method

Effective Enhancement of Vocabulary Learning

 

The Keyword Method, otherwise known as Visual Mnemonics, is a system of memory aids based on words in the learner's native language (in this case, Hebrew) that sound like the English words to be learned. As teachers, we try to find a like-sounding Hebrew word (called the Keyword) for each English word (called the Target word). Then we suggest an imaginary picture which connects the Hebrew word with the meaning of the English word. For example, the English word dog (כלב) sounds like the Hebrew word, דג. So we suggest an imaginary picture of a giant fish swallowing a dog. Something like this

Information about our programs

The Self-Access English Learning Center (SAELC) produces computer-based materials for learning English from the absolute beginners’  level up to the university level. 

 There are 3 programs: 

 

English for Beginners is an audio-visual program which teaches the ABC and all the rules

 governing the letters of the English alphabet. It also teaches the first 250 words of English

 and basic grammar. This program employs visual mnemonics -- aka the Keyword Method -

for teaching the names of the letters and for vocabulary.

 

 

English for Schools is an audio-visual English vocabulary learning program designed to

meet the needs of pupils in their junior high school, high school and university studies.

It consists of 3 levels. Level 1 teaches the 1000 most frequent words of English. Level 2

teaches the second most frequent 1000 words of English. Level 3 teaches the third most

frequent 1000 words. E4S uses texts by famous author of English learning books, L. A. Hill.

E4S also teaches English grammar. This courseware was approved by the Israeli Ministry of

Education.

 

 

Business English teaches 500 words of professional English by means of stories, pictures

and various exercises/games. This program is useful for high school students who plan to

work in business or administration.


 

Our programs teach proper pronunciation. The student can see the proper pronunciation by means of phonetic symbols. There is also a voice feature. If the computer is equipped with speakers, the student can hear the words that he is learning.
